JULY 2001

ITE Travel Exhibitions looks forward to their Central and Eastern European events for 2002

Encouraged by the forecasts of increased outbound and inbound figures from and to Central and Eastern European countries, ITE Travel Exhibitions is continuing to develop their commitment to the region. Holiday World (Prague), MITT (Moscow) and UITT (Kiev) are already recognised as the leading travel trade events in their countries and constant expansion of the shows will ensure that they maintain that lead. The success of the 2001 events reflects the ever-increasing interest in the regions and confirms that the trend is set to continue.

Special features already planned for the shows include the 2nd Central European Travel Conference, which will take place in Prague one day prior to Holiday World 2002 on the 6th February. The event will be jointly organised by ITE Travel Exhibitions and the Central European Countries Travel Association, cecta. It will focus on how the MICE industry can play a major role in the travel and tourism industry in Central European countries and is expected to attract a host of local and foreign delegates including Destination Management Companies, Professional Conference, Congress &/or Exhibition Organisers, Regional and National Tourist Boards, Official political bodies, Venues, Meetings Information and Technical Specialists as well as relevant media.

Both Holiday World and MITT will host the 2002 TTG Travel Awards in Prague and Moscow respectively. These annual awards recognise excellence in the travel trade world with the readership of TTG voting for deserving companies and individuals in several categories. Winners at this year's ceremony in Prague included Hertz, CSA, Austrian Tourist Board, the Marriott Hotel Group and Amadeus, while at Moscow's 3rd ceremony winners included British Airways, Natalie Tours, Radisson SAS, Turkish Ministry of Tourism and the Malta Tourism Office.

Positive feedback from the spring events this year serves as great encouragement for the season ahead. Holiday World's 10th anniversary edition in Prague welcomed some 883 companies from 69 countries and trade visitor levels totalled 12,780 with the general public figures reaching 39,923. MITT2001 (Moscow International Travel & Tourism exhibition) was equally successful with new international delegations from Belgium, Chile, Indonesia, Jordan and South Africa joining over 100 other countries and regions represented by some 2,000 companies. Exhibitor endorsements of MITT are outstanding:

"Year on year MITT delivers lucrative results. It is the only fair Switzerland Tourism attends at which contracts are signed on the spot."
Mr Ueltschi, Switzerland Tourism.

The last of the spring shows, UITT2001 (Ukraine International Travel & Tourism exhibition) was positioned only 4 days after MITT2001 so that exhibitors could target the whole of the region in just 2 weeks. Exhibitor levels were strong with 35 countries and regions represented by over 500 companies and an increasingly high quality of visitors. Demetris Demetriou, Director of Cyprus Tourism Organisation for Moscow and CIS commented,

"Ukraine is a high priority market for the Cyprus Tourism Organization and by participating in UITT, we are able to make the new business contacts we need and to keep in touch with changes and developments in the Ukraine. Following another successful participation in UITT this year, we are convinced that this is the best travel and tourism exhibition in the region and we will continue to include it as an integral part of our marketing efforts for the Ukraine."

ITE Travel Exhibitions is set to extend and develop their events yet further in the year 2002, adding value to their exhibitors' and visitors' participation, and maintaining their leading position in Russia, Ukraine and the Czech Republic.
