POST SHOW PRESS INFORMATION

The second edition of UITT, the Ukraine International Travel & Tourism Exhibition, co-organised by ITE Travel Exhibitions and partners Global Tour Consulting, closed last week to praise from exhibitors and visitors alike. A notable difference in the attendance levels and the quality of the trade visitors from previous years is testimony to the development of the market as the most promising of the CIS states.

Official Opening Ceremony
UITT2000 was opened by a host of VIP guests including Mr Valery Tsibukh, Deputy Chairman of State Committee for Youth Policies, Sport & Tourism of Ukraine, Mr Kounitzin, Prime Minister of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Mr Taryanik, Minister for Tourism of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Mr Evdokimenko, Chairman of the Association of Hotel Unions of Ukraine and Mr Shparik, Head of Dept for Hotel Tourism & Leisure at Kiev City Administration. There were also a number of Embassy officials in attendance including the Ambassadors of Austria, Turkey and India.

Exhibitor Profile
Exhibitor levels of some 700 represented companies were maintained from UITT'99 with over 40 countries represented by all sectors of the industry including National Tourist Boards, tour operators and travel agents, airlines, hotel groups and technology companies. Countries represented included Austria, Cuba, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Greece, India, Israel, Malta, Russia, Slovenia, Singapore, Spain and Thailand.

Visitor Profile
Over 25,000 visitors were registered at the show with some 6,000 registered as trade, a 50% increase on last years trade figures. Such healthy statistics reflect the increased interest and demand on the market for tourism products.

Events held during UITT2000
Alongside UITT2000, Hotel Equipment Ukraine 2000 took place. This brought together representatives of other aspects of the leisure industry including suppliers from Norway, Italy and Spain as well as the Ukraine. More than 60 companies were represented at the show from many sectors of the industry including computer and telecommunications equipment, interiors and hotel furniture, swimming pools and saunas plus catering and tableware to name but a few. This was the first time that such an event was held along side UITT and it was well received by exhibitors and visitors alike, highlighting the perfect synergy between the various branches of the travel & leisure industry.

"I am delighted by the success of UITT2000 and by the excellent feedback that we have had from our participants, " says David Hammond, Director of ITE Travel Exhibitions. "Now that the event is more established, it gives us great potential for further development and for promoting the synergy that this event has with our main event MITT in Moscow. Going forward our aim is that UITT retains its reputation as the definitive travel event in Ukraine and that it becomes a worthy subsidiary of MITT."

UITT2001 takes place from 4 - 7 April 2001
at the Sports Palace in Kiev
