2008: Year or Turkish Culture in Russia

Last year Turkey celebrated its Year of Russian Culture with a range of events and performances. This year sees the reverse, as Russia celebrates a Year of Turkish culture.

The Year of Turkish Culture in Russia will officially kick off on 8 April with a concert by the Presidential Symphony Orchestra in Moscow.

Events held within the framework of the Year of Turkish Culture in Russia include art exhibitions and Turkish culinary festivals. It has also been reported that Turkey will also be promoted during the Moscow Film Festival.

Moreover, concerts by famous Turkish musicians such as Tarkan, Idil Biret, Sertap Erener and Sebnem Ferah will take place in Moscow.

A range of conferences and panel discussions on Turkish literature will be held in Moscow during 2008 and Turkey will receive further promotion at the Moscow Book Fair in September.

Turkey is also the official ‘Partner Country’ for MITT 2008, Russia’s premier travel and tourism trade exhibition.
