Record number of new visas issued for Spain

In June 2007, the Spanish Department of Tourism in Moscow issued record number of visas – 49,864. This number exceeded last year’s record – 49,623 visas in total were issued in August 2006. Thereby, June 2007 became the busiest month for the Spanish Department of Tourism in Moscow.

Since the beginning of the year, 128,884 Russian tourists obtained Spanish visas. This is 15.33% more than during the same period last year.

One of the reasons for such a success is the opening of the Spanish visa centre on 1 June, and increasing the number of personnel at the Consulate during the peak season.  Tour operators, agents and airlines also contributed to this effect by promoting their destinations to clients.
