The 2nd annual Central European Travel Conference confirms speakers

ITE Travel Exhibitions and cecta (Central European Countries Travel Association), joint organisers of the annual Central European Travel Conference on the 6th February 2002, are delighted to announce that influential speakers have confirmed their participation. These include such high profile personalities as Tim Zagat, CEO of NYC & Co., Mike Moore Jr. of AOL/Time Warner Europe, Peter Shackleford, WTO Regional Representative for Europe, Yves Lemarchand, representative of SITE (Society of Incentive & Travel Executives), MPI and many other thought-leaders in the industry.

In response to popular demand from the industry, the theme of the conference this year will focus on how to bring MICE business to Central Europe. Professionals within the CE travel industry recognize the enormous potential of the MICE sector and are keen to develop this area of business. According to ICCA (International Congress and Convention Association) US$280 million are spent on the MICE industry worldwide and the CE countries are determined to capture a larger portion of this market. "The recently formed cecta Prague Business Group," said Terry Coates, Chairman of cecta, "will be one of the driving forces behind the event bringing a focus to the debate on the MICE market that has been much needed. The world is now looking at Central Europe in a new light. Central Europe is a 'safe haven' and the region needs to grow its business market through co-operation at all levels between the public and private sector."

The 2nd annual Central European Travel Conference will form a part of the Central European Travel Trade Week in early February. The week will incorporate several significant Central European travel industry activities such as the launch of the Central Europe Chapter of MPI (Meeting Professionals International) the Czech Travel Awards and will culminate in the 11th edition of the exhibition Holiday World 2002. Year-on-year this specialist travel trade exhibition has developed to become the Premier Tourism Industry Event for the Central European region specifically targeting the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia and Poland.
