Tourism Office in Moscow to Attract Russian Tourists to Bulgaria

Bulgaria will open its first national tourism office in Russia’s capital, Moscow, as part of an agreement between the two countries on tourism co-operation. According to Focus news agency, Russia’s State Agency for Tourism has offered full assistance for setting up the office.  The office will present all year round tourism opportunities in Bulgaria to Russians in an attempt to attract more Russian tourists to the country.

The heads of the Bulgarian and Russian tourism agencies signed the agreement during a working visit by Bulgarian Prime Minister, Sergei Stanishev, to
Russia on 6-8 May 8 2007. They agreed to exchange tourism legislation information and statistics, and to co-operate in the promotion of both countries.

Nearly 216,000 Russian touristss visited
Bulgaria in 2006, registering an increase of 23.12 per cent compared to 2005. Still, the number is low bearing in mind Russia’s enormous population.
