Montenegro: Tourism, Real Estate, Investments |
An exquisite coastline and gorgeous mountains give Montenegro great tourism potential. Considering the fact that it is a similar size to the Principality of Monaco, and it has received a large amount of foreign investment recently, many experts think that it can become the next Monaco. Since Montenegro’s independence, there has been a great demand for real estate. Investments in the country are so large that it is now third in Europe in terms of per capita foreign direct investment. As well as being the greatest investors in Montenegro, Russians are also the most frequent tourists to the Montenegrin coast. Furthermore, the Canadian, Peter Munk, one of the richest men in the world has bought an ex-Yugoslav military shipbuilding yard, located in Tivat, and his plan is to build an impressive marina for luxury yachts. Another important investment, which is already underway, is the lease of three of the most exclusive hotels in Montenegro: Sveti Stefan, Milocer and Kraljicina plaza by Aman resorts group. The group is planning to demolish the existing hotel, Kraljicina plaza, and build a new, more exclusive, hotel in its place. Work will commence in 2009, and Milocer and Sveti Stefan will be modernised and opened next year. Click here for more information. |
