Shippers visiting TransRussia 2002 will be able to benefit from even more international solutions than in recent years. In addition to the regular national pavilions from Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, the organisers are delighted to confirm that there will be an increased participation from Poland and also, for the first time ever, an Iranian national group. The Ports And Shipping Organisation and the Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Line will be attending the exhibition. Mr Mohammad Hamid Kamal, Managing Director of Khazar Shipping Company and Behzad Mohammad Seifallahy, Vice President of PSO will give presentations on the role of NOSTRAC as a viable transit route for European-South Asian trade. The TransRussia 2002 Conference takes place from Monday 25th March to Tuesday 26th March at the Renaissance Hotel Moscow, which is adjacent to the exhibition venue. The conference programme focusses on the development of the Russian transport sector and particularly on the viability of various transit routes through Russia and the CIS. Speakers include the recently appointed Minister of Railways of the Russian Federation, Gennady Fadeev, Ivan Materov, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade, and Klaus Ebeling, Secretary General, European Intermodal Association. In his welcome address to TransRussia 2002 exhibitors and visitors, Igor I Klebanov, Vice President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Government Commission for Exhibitions writes: "In past years, the role of the transport system in the country's economy has grown significantly, and such specialised forums are absolutely essential. The forecast for the development of the world economy shows that the financial and trade flow of the new century will be concentrated on the triangle of the USA, Europe and the Far East. Our most crucial task lies in realising the profitable geographical position of Russia as the only transport bridge between Europe and Asia."
