The huge market for machine tools for the metal working industry is booming. IMAK-TATEF 2000 underlined this very impressively. IMAK-TATEF 2000, the largest Industrial trade fair in Turkey took place from 27th September to 1st October 2000. IMAK and TATEF, formerly independent shows merged this year as a result of CECIMO's endorsement and as a result the show was a great success. Business was good or very good in every area that products were on offer and many machines were sold directly at the trade fair. The exhibitors praised the general quality of the expert visitors of this year. 82% said the number of visitors were good or very good. In addition to the sales made on machines that they were exhibiting an extra 15% of exhibitors made additional sales deals.

Turkey demonstrated the underlining need for Metalworking Machinery with 55,000 visitors. Whether senior mangers from the major industrial groups or managing directors of small and medium-sized firms, they were all out in numbers to discover the most advanced products currently available.

96% of the exhibitors want to participate again at IMAK-TATEF 2002.

The 921 represented exhibitors at IMAK-TATEF 2000 from 26 countries, provided further evidence of the international flavour of the event. Turkey led the way with 310 companies, followed by Germany with 168 and Italy with 102. All five continents were represented Europe (EU and Eastern Europe), Asia (China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, India. Africa (South Africa) and North America (Canada, United States).

Rene Groothedde, Secretary General of CECIMO made an address at the opening ceremony. He said, that he was looking forward to the future developments of the Machine Tool industry in Turkey and was very pleased that the two former independent shows had merged.
