Situated to the North of the Black Sea, Ukraine has borders with Russia, Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania and Moldova, positioning it at the heart of Eastern Europe and making it the ideal distributing centre.

Interiors Kiev 2000 will take place at the Sports Palace, Kiev, alongside KievBuild 2000 & Heat*Vent Ukraine 2000.

Theatres and concert halls

  1. Taras Shevchenko National Opera, 50 Volodymyrska St., tel.: 224 7165: Taras Shevchenko National Opera stages a general classical ballet and opera repertoire. The theatre's ballet and opera company travels a great deal, successfully performing world-wide. The house itself is very beautiful, its exterior and interior being richly decorated.
  2. Ivan Franko Ukrainian Drama Theatre, 3 Franko Square, tel.: 229 5991: The repertoire of the theatre is extensive, It stages classical and modern works of Ukrainian and world famous playwrights.
  3. Lesya Ukrainka Russian Drama Theatre, Khmenytskiy St., 224 4223: The theatre features productions of Russian and foreign playwrights.
  4. Kyiv State Conservatory, 1/3 Khreshchatyk St., tel.: 229 0762: The repertoire of the Kyiv State Conservatory features an extensive classical selection.
Museums 
Kiev is a city of museums, most of them centrally located. After independence, galleries began to appear as an alternative to state-owned museums. Those with artistic/cultural interests can either pop into one of the many galleries at Andriivskiy Uzviz or visit some of the museums listed below:
