PRODUCTION PRINTING IS MAJOR CONTRIBUTOR TO 25 PERCENT XEROX
EGYPT GROWTH
Official IAAPW sponsor says digital colour is transforming industry
IAAPW, Stand P5, Hall 6
CAIRO, July 2001 - Xerox Egypt's digital business has grown a healthy 25 percent so far this year, and production printing is a major contributor. The launch of production quality, fast and affordable products like DocuColor 2060, Xerox Book Factory, DocuPrint 92C and DocuTech 135 - all to be showcased at IAAPW - are key to maintaining this growth.
"Our performance is really the exception in the document/printing, so we are very pleased with our growth," says Xerox Egypt Managing Director Farid Moharram. "The powerful products we are showcasing at IAAPW demonstrate our determination to build on this buoyant performance."
The Xerox Book Factory combines sophisticated technologies from Xerox, Roll Systems Inc. and C.P. Bourg to make book publishing easier and more efficient than ever before. The Book Factory produces perfect-bound books and booklets on-demand, allowing companies to produce limited print runs, or even single copies, cost-effectively.
The Book Factory automatically prints, collates and binds books in a seamless production process. Optional software offers scan/make ready, www/network input and digital library capabilities, automatic signature imposition and front-to-back registration.
The Xerox DocuColor 2060 prints 60 colour pages per minute of near photographic quality impressions. It offers production class feed, finishing and document capture and increases print speed, quality and volume while cutting page costs in half. Its quality colour and variable data capability makes it attractive to industries that have previously been dominated by black and white documents, such as banking, telecoms and insurance.
With 10 different colour options and 600dpi resolution the Xerox DocuPrint 92C can produce 92 high-quality impressions per minute - simplex or duplex - with or without highlight colour. It can produce halftones, tints and a wide variety of colour shades, adding richness and depth to even the most routine of company documents.
The Xerox DocuTech 135 is a digital production publishing system with a wide range of functions and features that virtually eliminate pre-press operations. It facilitates print-on-demand, electronic storage and distribution, just in time printing and one-to-one marketing and comes with a huge choice of paper input/output options. It prints up to 135 pages per minute at a resolution of 600 dpi.
"We are very optimistic that the Egyptian production printing market will become stronger as companies learn how our new generation of digital print solutions can transform their processes and performance," says Farid Moharram."
Xerox's broad portfolio of 'just-in-time', one-to-one and web-based technology allows its customers to move their business from 'making-then-selling' to 'selling-then-making', and from mass production to mass customisation. When this is combined with the near photographic quality of the finished product - black and white and colour - it becomes clear why the global printing business is expected to top an estimated $1 trillion turnover this year.

PRODUCTION CLASS XEROX DEMONSTRATES COMMITMENT
Stand P5, Hall 6
Xerox Egypt is showing its strong commitment to the packaging, printing, paper and board industries by becoming the sole official sponsor of the first IAAPW exhibition and conference. These industries are key contributors to growth in the Egyptian, regional and international economies - making IAAPW a very significant showcase. Digital colour technology is transforming the printing and packaging world. Xerox has invested in its research and development since the 1960s.
"Digital and colour technology have delivered the benefits of 'just-in-time' printing, one-to-one marketing and online services, allowing more flexible print runs, faster turnarounds and mass customisation," says Xerox Egypt managing director Farid Moharram. "No wonder the worldwide printing business is expected to top $1 trillion this year."
Xerox is the best known international name in printing and document management and has the strongest presence of any document technology company in the Middle East. It has been established in Egypt for over 23 years.
Xerox Egypt is the only company in the Middle East and Africa with a document technology manufacturing and assembly plant. It manufactures a comprehensive range of document solutions and is backed up by nationwide service and support.
Revolution
Xerox was the first to recognise the fundamental impact digital colour would have on the printing and packaging industries. It started the digital colour revolution in Egypt and has remained the market leader ever since.
This year, Xerox and its partner Fuji Xerox are investing more than $715 million in colour research and development. It is part of an innovation process that has resulted, to date, in more than 1200 patents.
Many of Xerox's latest market-leading products are on show at its 180 sq m stand at IAAPW. Examples include:
Book Factory (Publishing solution)
The Xerox Book Factory combines sophisticated technologies from Xerox, Roll Systems Inc. and C.P. Bourg to make book publishing easier and more efficient than ever before. The Book Factory produces perfect-bound books and booklets on-demand, allowing companies to produce limited print runs, or even single copies, cost-effectively.
The Book Factory automatically prints, collates and binds books in a seamless production process. Optional software offers scan/make ready, www/network input and digital library capabilities, automatic signature imposition and front-to-back registration.
DocuColor 2060 (Production colour)
DocuColor 2060 is called the 'now press' because it delivers 60 colour pages per minute of near photographic quality printing - now. Xerox had the vision to recognise that its customers need to make money from the digital colour revolution today - not tomorrow, which its competitors think is soon enough.
DocuColor 2060 offers production class feeding, finishing and document capture, and increased speed, quality and volume while cutting page cost in half and offering new levels of affordability.
It transforms black and white documents, allowing a wider audience to see the benefits of digital colour. Transactional printing, for example, can produce full-colour statements, invoices and other mainframe applications with variable content, including customised catalogues and brochures.
Xerox DocuPrint 92C (Highlight colour)
The DocuPrint 92C produces 92 high-quality impressions per minute - simplex or duplex - with or without highlight colour. It can produce halftones, tints and a wide variety of colour shades, adding richness and depth to even the most routine of company documents.
Xerox DocuTech 135 (Production publisher)
DocuTech 135 is a digital production publishing system with a wide range of functions and features that virtually eliminate pre-press operations.
