KAZBUILD 2000
KazBuild Background
Kazakhstan is the largest of the Central Asian Republics, and the second largest country of the Former Soviet Union (FSU), with a population of 16 million.
The capital is Astana in the north of the country but the business centre is Almaty (population 1.2 million) situated in the extreme southeast.
Since the Government's programme of economic reform and privatisation implemented in 1993, Kazakhstan has attracted huge amounts of foreign investment, helping to create what is now a stable economy, with low inflation. Many other CIS countries have failed to indicate such rapid development.
Its prompt maturity in recent years has created a wealth of new and exciting opportunities in the building and construction sector. Financial aid packages totaling in excess of $2 billion, specifically for the construction industry, are still outstanding this year, creating an environment of great optimism and opportunity for the future.
It is these reforms, together with the IMF investment, that has assisted in the rapid transition to a market economy. Up to 15,000 visitors are expected to attend this four day event making KazBuild 2000 the most popular and important building and construction event, not only in Kazakhstan, but also in Central Asia.
KazBuild 2000, the leading building and construction event in Central Asia will take place for the 7th time and will once again be supported by KazStroiKomitet, Committee for Construction and Housing Policy, Kazakhstan Ministry of Energy, Industry and Trade. It will take place from 6-9 September 2000 at the Atakent International Exhibition Centre, Almaty. KazBuild 2000 will incorporate for the 4th consecutive time Interiors Kazakhstan 2000.
