RUSSIA BUILDING WEEK: A HUGE SUCCESS!

This years 'Russia Building Week' exhibition took place on the 4 - 7 April at the Krasnaya Presnya Expo Centre, Moscow; the exhibition comprised of Batimat MosBuild, Interiors Moscow, Decotex, Heat Vent, Ceramic & Stone, Santechnika and Hard Ware. Russia Building Week, which was held for the 6th consecutive year, was a huge success, confirming it as the leading construction, building and interiors event in the CIS.

Lawrie Lewis, Chairman of organising company ITE, Alex Bernstein, Executive Director of ITE and A.N. Marshev, Vice-Chairman of Gosstroy, formally opened Russia Building Week. Mr. Marshev spoke highly of the event saying; "Russia Building Week is the most important building exhibition in Russia". He went on to comment on the positive effects the show has had on the Russian market in forging international trade relations.

Over 850 exhibitors from 30 countries were present at Russia Building Week 2000; national groups from the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Poland, Finland, Austria, Bavaria and the Czech Republic also attended, highlighting the level of international support for the event. Exhibitors booking space in advance for Russia Building Week 2001 confirmed commitment to the show.

    Many exhibitors at Russia Building Week took the opportunity to launch new products; Sintech Oy introduced new automatic rollforming lines for producing sheet metal proofing, cladding sheets and different types of flashings, Ito Emniyet Kilit Sistemleri San launched their turn-key solutions for door locks and door accessories and Bonomini Sri displayed for the first time, 'Tobonflex', a patented pipe system for sewage installations.

    During Russia Building Week, awards were presented to exhibitors for 'Best Russian Stand' and 'Best International Stand'. The winner in the Batimat Mosbuild section of the show was Technocom for Best Russian Stand and Stanley for Best International Stand. In the Heat Vent section, Daikin won the prize for Best Russian Stand and Electra Consumer Products for Best International Stand. In the combined sections of Ceramica and Santechnick, Schick was the winner for Best Russian Stand and IDO Bathroom Ltd. for Best International Stand. Award ceremonies took place at the winner's stand in which each individual stand manager was presented with a trophy to signify their company's contribution towards making Russia Building Week a memorable and attractive show.

    At this year's event, visitor numbers reached over 55,000, a significant increase on last year's figures. The majority of visitors were specialised trade professionals with purchasing authority, from a variety of backgrounds including, architects, specifiers, distributors, retailers and agents.

    Show Director Paul Blackford's comments on the event were "Increased visitor figures produced the results exhibitors at Russia Building Week were looking for. Exhibitor response shows a clear and positive development in the last twelve months in Russia, with business levels rising significantly. We intend to further develop Russia Building Week 2001 even more to provide contacts and business for both visitor and exhibitor alike."

    Russia Building Week 2001 will take place from the 10 - 13 April at the Krasnaya Presnya Expo Centre, Moscow.
